PAYMENTS

COVID-19 ALERT: During the period of social-distancing, all payments can be made via Zelle or other online payment service.

Payment in the form of
cash, personal check or Zelle (Chase, Bank of America, etc) is due at the time of service.  Credit cards are not accepted.

COST OF SERVICE

The cost varies depending on the service provided and the length of the session.  The fee for a 45-min individual session is $250.  Reduced rates are offered based on availability and need.  In addition to reduced fees, some insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits to reduce the overall burden of cost to the member.  See below for more information on out-of-network benefits.

OUT-OF-NETWORK INSURANCE BENEFITS

COVID-19 ALERT: Please check with your insurance company to ensure that your current out-of-network
behavioral health  benefits include telehealth.

If you have an insurance plan, you can contact your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network coverage.  Insurance plans that offer out-of-network benefits reimburse their members a portion of the cost of each session, sometimes after meeting a deductible.  Many insurance companies do not call attention to these benefits even when included in a plan.  To find out if you have out-of-network coverage, call your insurance provider and ask the following questions:
  • Do I have out-of-network behavioral health benefits?
  • Will I need a referral to see an out-of-network provider?
  • Is there an out-of-network deductible?
  • Will I be reimbursed a flat fee or a percentage?
  • How much can I expect to be reimbursed when seeing a psychologist for a 45 minute therapy session [or insert the session type]?
  • If a percentage is covered, is this a percentage of the fee set by my provider or is it a percentage of a maximum fee set by the insurer? If a standard maximum fee, what is that fee?

SUBMITTING OUT-OF-NETWORK CLAIMS

When you use out-of-network benefits, I complete and submit electronic forms to your insurance company on a monthly basis whenever possible.  Most major insurance companies allow me to do this on the patient's behalf.  Claim submission is typically the responsibility of the patient, but I offer this as a courtesy for choosing to work with me. Your insurance company will reimburse you as indicated by your specific out-of-network plan.

If you use an insurance company that does not allow me to submit claims electronically, I will provide you with a receipt for services that you can submit to your insurer.

SELF PAY
Those who do not have out-of-network benefits can self-pay and are encouraged to ask about sliding scale fee options before your first appointment.  I am no longer in-network with any insurance plans as of January 1, 2020.
