About Me

I am a New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years experience treating children, adolescents and adults. I have worked with people from diverse ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds to help them through a range of challenges. My specialties include evidence-based treatment of clinically significant depression and anxiety disorders and helping people adjust and thrive in response to major life transitions.
In my undergraduate studies, I majored in Psychology and Sociology and minored in Gender Studies with a concentration in Race, Class, and Gender studies. I obtained a Master's in General Psychology with a Research focus from New School University before earning my doctorate at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University. During doctoral training, my clinical practice with adults, adolescents, children and families was directly supervised by seasoned and influential psychodynamic psychologists and psychiatrists in a range of settings including a college counseling center, a community mental health center, a public City hospital, and Beth Israel Medical Center. I completed my one-year APA-accredited internship at Kings County Hospital Center where I received advanced clinical training with adolescents, adults and families in inpatient and outpatient settings. That year I also completed a year-long specialized training in short-term, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at SUNY Downstate Medical Center's Anxiety Disorders Clinic. There I gained advanced doctoral level training in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. After earning my Ph.D., I completed a post-doctoral training and research program at NorthShore-LIJ, part of the Northwell Health System, treating a variety of mental health conditions that manifest in aggression while researching and implementing the use of functional behavior analysis to therapeutically prevent and limit dangerous behaviors for people receiving care in inpatient settings.
I believe continuing education for a mental health provider is a prerequisite for quality care and am always working to keep current with new research and best-practices. In 2013, as part of my independent studies, I gained intensive training in Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complicated (Prolonged) Grief at the University of Pennsylvania from world-renowned psychologist, Edna B. Foa, Ph.D. In 2022, I furthered my training treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder learning additional techniques in Exposure and Response Prevention, developed and researched over the past decade. Most recently, I completed a course provided at the Seleni Institute of NYC on Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders and Perinatal Loss and Grief.
In addition to my work in private practice, I served for five years as a Senior Supervising Psychologist for New York City's Health and Hospitals where I directed doctoral-level externship training programs and lead a multidisciplinary team bringing individualized psychological interventions to psychiatric inpatient units. I also supervised other licensed clinical psychologists and mental health trainees from programs in social work (LMSWs), psychiatry (MDs) and psychology (MAs in PhD and PsyD programs). Prior to becoming a Senior Supervising Psychologist, I was a Supervising psychologist for an additional 5 years in the same public hospital system providing direct clinical care to children and adults in Brooklyn and the Bronx, while supervising trainees in the field. In 2018, I left the public hospitals and expanded my private practice in Brooklyn where I remain today.
I believe that balance and making choices in line with one's values is central to a healthy mind and body, which informs my career, my practice, and my personal life. I come from an ethnically, racially, and religiously diverse background and live with my family in Brooklyn.
